Use your own domain
Show your QKAP page on a domain you own, like shop.yourname.com, with free SSL. A Premium feature.
With QKAP Premium you can show your page on a domain you own, such as shop.yourname.com or yourname.com, instead of qkap.app/yourname. Your posts, shop, collections and series all work on the new address, and QKAP sets up the SSL certificate (the padlock) for you.
Connect a domain
- Open Settings → Custom domain in your dashboard.
- Type the domain you want to use, for example
shop.yourname.com, and tap Connect. - QKAP shows the DNS records to add. Open the website where you bought the domain (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Hostinger, Cloudflare and so on), find its DNS settings and add each record exactly as shown: a CNAME record for your domain pointing to the address QKAP shows, plus any TXT records listed (they prove you own the domain and let us issue the certificate).
- Come back and tap Check again. DNS changes usually take a few minutes, sometimes up to a few hours. QKAP also checks by itself every few minutes.
When the status says Active, your page is live on your domain. Old qkap.app/yourname links keep working.
A subdomain or the bare domain?
A subdomain such as shop.yourname.com or www.yourname.com works with every domain provider.
The bare domain (yourname.com) needs a provider that supports CNAME flattening, ALIAS or ANAME records at the root (Cloudflare, DNSimple, Namecheap's ALIAS and others do). If yours doesn't, use www.yourname.com and set up a redirect from yourname.com to it at your provider.
Good to know
- One domain per page. If you run several pages, each can have its own domain.
- Search engines are told your domain is the main address of your page, so your page's search ranking builds on your domain.
- Your dashboard, login and checkout stay on qkap.app.
- To stop using the domain, tap Remove domain. Then delete the DNS records at your provider.
If Premium ends
Your domain is kept but stops showing your page: visitors are sent to qkap.app/yourname instead. When you renew, your domain starts working again without any setup.
Troubleshooting
- Pending for a long time: check the CNAME points to exactly the address shown, with no extra dots or
http://. Some providers add your domain to the name automatically, so enter onlyshopas the name forshop.yourname.com. - Failed: the reason is shown under the status. Fix the records, then tap Check again.
- Another page uses this domain: a domain can be connected to only one QKAP page. Remove it there first.
- Using Cloudflare for your own DNS: set the CNAME record to "DNS only" (grey cloud).
