To let followers and brands message you from your QKAP page, open Inbox → Settings in your dashboard, switch the message button on, pick its words (Message me, Partnerships, Sponsorships or your own) and choose where it shows: under your bio, in your floating button, or both. Senders log in with a free QKAP account and write to you. You reply from Dashboard → Inbox, and they read your replies in Messages in their QKAP account. The inbox is included on every plan, Free included.

Key takeaways

  • The QKAP inbox is a message form on your page that feeds a private inbox in your dashboard. It doesn't connect to Instagram DMs or your email.
  • You choose the button text, which request types to offer (General, Partnership, Sponsorship, Collab, Product question, Other) and a short note at the top of the form.
  • Brand requests can carry the brand name, website, what's offered (paid, gifted, affiliate or not decided) and, for paid offers, a budget.
  • Senders must be logged in. The inbox never shows them your email, and you see theirs only if they choose to share it.
  • You get All, Unread, Starred, Archived and Blocked views, search, unread badges and optional email alerts that never include the message text.

What the QKAP inbox is (and what it isn't)

The QKAP inbox is a structured contact form on your link-in-bio page. A visitor taps your button, says what the message is about, writes it and sends it. It lands in Inbox in your QKAP dashboard, sorted by type, where you or your team reply.

It is not a replacement for your Instagram DMs or your business email, and it doesn't automate anything on Instagram. Think of it as a front door for one kind of message: people who found you through your bio link and want to reach you properly, from fans with a product question to brands with a sponsorship idea. Pitches that arrive this way don't get buried under reel reactions in your Instagram message requests, and they arrive with the details you need to answer.

Step 1: Turn on the button and choose its words

  1. Open your dashboard and go to Inbox, then Settings. The button is off until you switch it on.
  2. Pick the button text: Message me, Contact me, Partnerships, Sponsorships, Collabs, or your own words (up to 24 characters).
  3. Save. The button appears on your page straight away.

The words you choose do more than label the button. If you pick Partnerships, Sponsorships or Collabs, the form opens with that request type already selected, which tells brands you welcome them. If most of your messages are from fans, Message me is friendlier. Our call-to-action examples for your link in bio can help you pick wording that suits your page.

Step 2: Choose request types and write a short intro note

Under request types, tick the ones you want to offer. At least one must stay on:

  • General: hellos, feedback, fan questions.
  • Partnership, Sponsorship and Collab: these show extra brand fields in the form.
  • Product question: useful if you sell from your QKAP store or recommend products.
  • Other: a catch-all.

Then write an optional intro note of up to 200 characters, kept to three lines. It appears at the top of the form as a note from you. Use it to set expectations, for example: "I read every message. Brand requests: please include deliverables and dates. I reply within 3 working days." Only promise a reply time you can keep.

Step 3: Decide where the button shows

You have two places, and you can use both:

  • Under your bio. The button sits in your profile header, where every visitor sees it.
  • In your floating button. The message button becomes the first item in the floating button's menu. This only works when the floating button is switched on and set to Menu, in Appearance → Floating button.

Inbox settings also show your Direct link (your page address ending in #message) with a Copy button, and an empty inbox offers Copy your message link. The link opens your page with the form already open, even if you hide the button, so you can paste it into a media kit, an email signature or a YouTube description. Adding the type works too: ending the link in #message-sponsorship opens the form with Sponsorship selected.

What a sender fills in

Every sender chooses what the message is about, adds an optional subject (up to 120 characters) and writes a message of 10 to 2,000 characters with up to five links. For Partnership, Sponsorship and Collab requests, an "About your brand" section adds optional fields:

  • Brand or company (up to 80 characters)
  • Website (up to 200 characters)
  • What are you offering?: Paid, Gifted product / barter, Affiliate / commission, or Not decided yet
  • Budget (up to 40 characters), shown when the offer is Paid

These details are written by the sender, and the dashboard says so. Treat them as a starting point, not proof. If you want to tighten your brand outreach in general, our guide to landing direct partnerships with brands covers what to send back.

Why senders log in, and what stays private

Senders log in or create a free QKAP account before they send. That gives you a real person to reply to, keeps one conversation per sender, and makes floods much harder. It's the same follower account people use for purchases, so our guide to follower accounts and My purchases explains what they see. Viewing your page never needs an account.

Privacy works in both directions:

  • The inbox never shows your email to senders. Messages travel through QKAP.
  • Their email is shown only if they tick the box to share it. Otherwise you see their name and reply in QKAP.
  • If a shared address wasn't confirmed through a Google sign-in, the dashboard marks it Not verified, because anyone can type a brand's email into a sign-up form.

For your own responsibilities when you collect contact details, read privacy basics for creators.

Reading and replying in Dashboard → Inbox

The inbox has five views: All, Unread, Starred, Archived and Blocked. You can filter by request type and search by sender name, a shared email, subject, brand name or message text. Inside a conversation you can reply (up to 2,000 characters), star it, archive it, mark it unread, block the sender or report spam. An unread badge on Inbox shows how many conversations need you.

If email alerts are on, QKAP emails the account owner when a new conversation arrives or a quiet thread gets a new message. You get at most one email per conversation every 12 hours, and it never contains the message text, so nothing private sits in your mailbox. You reply in QKAP itself.

For faster replies, set an auto-reply and saved answers; our guide to inbox quick replies and auto-reply has templates.

Where followers see your reply

Your reply appears in Messages in the sender's QKAP account, alongside any other creators they've written to. QKAP can also email them a short note that you've replied. A follower who writes again lands in the same conversation, so the history stays in one thread.

How it compares with Instagram's inbox and a public email

Instagram already gives professional accounts a sorted inbox. As of October 2026, Instagram's Help Centre describes a professional inbox for business and creator accounts with Primary, General and Requests folders and saved replies. Where available, it also has a partnership messages folder, where brands in Instagram's branded content programme can message creators who have opted into partner discovery. It's free and built in. Business email is still where most contracts and invoices happen.

Most creators use all three: DMs for fans, the QKAP inbox for organised requests from your page, and email once a deal is real.

Bottom line

Turn the button on, offer only the request types you'll answer, write a one-line note about reply times, and check the Unread view a few times a week. See the Inbox & brand deals feature page for a tour, or open your dashboard and switch it on now.

Frequently asked questions

Do followers need an account to message me?

Yes. They log in or create a free QKAP account before sending, so you know who wrote and can reply. Browsing your page never needs an account.

Brands can include up to five links in each message, so they can link a deck, a brief or their own media kit. The inbox doesn't accept file attachments, so ask for a link instead.

Can my team reply for me?

Yes. Give teammates inbox access through team roles: See messages, Reply to messages, or Manage the inbox. Each reply shows your team which teammate sent it, while the sender just sees your page's name.

Is the inbox free?

Yes. The inbox is included on every QKAP plan, Free included. It's off by default until you turn it on in Inbox settings.

Can I turn the button off later?

Yes. Switching it off hides the button and stops new conversations, while existing conversations keep working so you can finish them.
