QKAP Follower Accounts and My Purchases: A Guide for Creators
Why buyers of paid QKAP products and memberships log in to a follower account, how they're returned to checkout, and what they find in My purchases.
On this page
Follower accounts are free accounts your buyers use to purchase paid products and join memberships on QKAP. When someone taps buy on a paid product or any membership, they're asked to log in or create an account, then sent straight back to the checkout they started. Everything they buy while logged in is saved to My purchases, one place to find their files, courses, bookings and memberships from every creator they support. Members-only posts unlock whenever they're logged in, on any device. Free downloads and lead magnets stay a quick form with no account needed.
Key takeaways
- Follower accounts are separate from creator accounts and free for your buyers.
- Buyers need one for anything with a price and for every membership; free products don't need one.
- After logging in or signing up, buyers return to the checkout they started.
- My purchases lists their orders and active memberships across all creators.
- Every order also has a private link that opens the purchase, whether or not the buyer is logged in.
Why ask buyers to log in?
Asking people to create an account adds a step, so it's fair to ask why it's there.
The main reason is memberships. A membership unlocks members-only posts on your page, and that only works if your page can recognise the member when they come back. A follower account is how it does that: once you confirm a member's payment, your locked posts open for them whenever they're logged in, on their phone, laptop or a new device.
The second reason is keeping purchases safe. Private order links are easy to lose in an email inbox or a WhatsApp chat. With an account, every paid order sits in My purchases, so a buyer who bought your e-book in March can find it again in October without messaging you.
That's why QKAP asks for an account only where it helps: for products with a price, where people will want to return, and for every membership, where it's essential. Free downloads and lead magnets stay a short form, because adding a login there would cost you sign-ups for little benefit.
What your buyer experiences
- They tap your product's button, such as "Get it now" or "Join now".
- If they're not logged in, they see a login screen showing whose shop they're buying from, with an option to create an account instead.
- Creating an account takes a name, an email and a password. The account is described as one account for buying from creators and joining their memberships.
- After logging in or signing up, they're returned to the same checkout.
- They pay you directly by UPI or your payment link, and tap I've paid.
- Their private order page unlocks once you confirm the payment in Orders. See QKAP Store orders and payments for your side of that.
What's in My purchases
My purchases is the buyer's home on QKAP. It shows:
- Active memberships, with the creator's name, when access runs until, and a button to see members-only posts.
- All orders, each with the product, the creator, the product type and its status, linking to the private order page.
Because a follower account isn't tied to a single creator, a buyer who supports several QKAP creators sees all of their purchases in one list.
Orders made before an account
Some buyers may have bought from you before follower accounts were needed, or bought a free product without one. If they open that order's private link while logged in, they can add the order to their account so it appears in My purchases from then on.
Gifts
When someone buys a product as a gift, the gift has its own private link that goes to the recipient. Gifts stay separate from the buyer's account, so the person who receives the gift is the one who opens it.
What to tell your followers
A short explanation removes most hesitation. You might add a line to your product description or FAQ:
- "You'll log in or create a free account at checkout, so your purchase is always saved in My purchases."
- "Members: log in on any device and the members-only posts unlock."
- "Lost your link? Log in and open My purchases."
If you run a membership, mention logging in in your welcome message too. The most common member question is "why can't I see the posts?", and the answer is almost always "you're not logged in on this device".
Forgotten passwords
Resetting a follower account password by email isn't available yet. Two things soften this:
- Private order links still work. Each order's private link opens the purchase whether or not the buyer is logged in, so a buyer with their link isn't locked out of what they bought.
- Support can help. Buyers can contact QKAP support from the email address they signed up with.
If a buyer messages you about this, you can copy their private link from the order in your dashboard and send it to them. If you think the link has been shared publicly, create a new one; the old link stops working.
Privacy and data
Follower accounts hold the buyer's email and their purchases. As the creator, you see buyer details on their orders and in your customers list, which you can export. Treat that information carefully: use it to deliver what people bought and to answer their questions, and only email people who've agreed to hear from you. For a wider view, read creator privacy and follower data.
How this fits with memberships and members-only posts
If you're planning a paid community, follower accounts are what make it work. You create a membership plan, lock posts for members, and followers who join and log in see those posts unlocked while their access is active. When a membership ends, the posts lock again and the member sees a button to renew. Locking posts behind a membership is part of Premium; the Free vs Premium guide lists what each plan includes.
Frequently asked questions
Do my followers need an account to view my page?
No. Anyone can view your page, tap your affiliate products and get free downloads or lead magnets without an account. An account is only needed for paid products and memberships.
Is a follower account the same as a creator account?
No. Follower accounts are for buying and joining memberships. Creators manage their pages from a separate creator account.
Where do buyers find something they bought?
In My purchases when they're logged in, or by opening the order's private link, which works whether or not they're logged in.
Why can a member not see members-only posts?
Usually because they're not logged in on that device, or their access period has ended. Ask them to log in with the same email they used to join, and check the membership's access date in your dashboard.
Before your next launch, buy one of your own products from a second phone with a test follower account. Seeing the login, return to checkout and My purchases yourself makes it much easier to explain to your buyers.
