Few of the link-in-bio tools we checked document a true announcement bar, meaning a strip of news fixed to the top or bottom of every page. Most offer a highlighted, animated or featured link instead, which can work just as well for a single promotion. If you run regular sales or launches, look for three things: scheduling, so the banner appears and disappears on time; an honest countdown tied to a real end date; and a free or low-cost plan that includes both. As of October 2026, QKAP (our product) documents a dedicated bar on its free plan, Beacons documents countdowns on individual links, and Taplink documents a countdown timer on its Business plan.

Key takeaways

  • An announcement bar sits on every page; a featured or animated link is one item in your list. Both can carry a sale, but they behave differently.
  • Scheduling matters more than styling: a banner that still says "Sale ends tonight" three days later costs trust.
  • A countdown should always match a real deadline. Never reset it to create urgency.
  • Linktree offers text blocks, featured links, animation and scheduling, but we found no documented countdown.
  • QKAP is our product. We explain the ranking criteria and our bias below so you can weigh it yourself.

What counts as an announcement bar?

An announcement bar is a thin, full-width strip at the top or bottom of a page that shows one short message, such as a sale, a launch date or a shipping cut-off, often with a button. It stays put while the rest of the page changes. A highlighted link is a normal button made to stand out with size, colour or motion. A text block is a heading or paragraph placed between links. All three can announce something, but only a bar is designed to sit across every page and come down on a schedule.

How we ranked announcement bars

We ranked tools for creators and small sellers who run time-bound promotions from their bio link. Criteria and weights:

CriterionWeightWhat we looked for
True bar vs highlighted link25%A dedicated strip, or a workaround using links and blocks
Scheduling20%Set start and end times so it appears and disappears on its own
Countdown20%A live timer tied to an end date
Styling10%Colours, icons, button, position
Shows on all pages10%Visible beyond the main profile page
Price15%Available on a free or low-cost plan

Method. We read each tool's pricing page and help docs in October 2026 and only credit documented features. "Not documented" means we couldn't confirm a feature, not that it is definitely missing. Stan Store was left out because its pricing article, the page we checked, documents no banner or countdown feature. Prices are as of October 2026 and vary by country.

Our bias. QKAP is our product, and we know its features from the inside while we know other tools only from their docs. QKAP ranks first here because it is the only tool in this list that documents a dedicated, schedulable bar on a free plan, but if you already pay for another tool, its highlighted links may be all you need.

1. QKAP

  • Best for: creators who run frequent sales, launches or drops and want the banner to manage itself.
  • Strengths: a dedicated announcement bar in Appearance, at the top or bottom of your pages. One line of up to 140 characters, an optional icon from 12, and an optional button (up to 24 characters) to an https link or a page within your own QKAP page. Styles are solid, gradient or soft, it can be sticky, and long text can scroll as a marquee that pauses on hover. You set start and end times in your own time zone, add a live "Ends in…" countdown tied to the end time, let visitors close it (it stays closed in their browser until you change the text), and show it on all pages or only the profile. For product-level deals, coupons and per-product countdowns also exist; see our guide to deals, coupons and countdowns.
  • Limits: the message is one line of up to 140 characters, and the bar doesn't send notifications or target specific visitors.
  • Price note: included on every plan, including Free. See pricing for what Premium adds.

2. Beacons

  • Best for: creators who want a countdown on the promotion link itself.
  • Strengths: in a Links block, a timer icon makes a link clickable only from a set time, with a live countdown on the button. Links can be scheduled to appear and to hide, animated, or shown as a large 16:9 featured card.
  • Limits: it is a link, not a site-wide bar. Redirect needs a paid plan; check Beacons' pricing page for which plan includes the timer.
  • Price note: Free $0; Creator $10 a month.
  • Best for: businesses building a block-based mini-site with a countdown.
  • Strengths: a countdown timer block, scheduled display of blocks and text blocks, which together can act like a banner.
  • Limits: the countdown timer is listed on the BUSINESS plan and scheduled blocks on PRO, so the full setup isn't free.
  • Price note: shown in India on 12-month billing: PRO about ₹140 a month and BUSINESS about ₹280 a month; BASIC is free.

4. Linktree

  • Best for: creators already on Linktree who need to push one link for a while.
  • Strengths: a Text link app for headlines or announcements on every plan; featured links (one on Free, unlimited on paid plans); prioritising one link by Redirect, Auto-expand or Animate (Wiggle, Pop, Shimmer); and scheduling links to go live and disappear, on Starter and above.
  • Limits: only one link can be prioritised and one animated at a time, and we found no documented countdown. The pricing page also lists a Support Banner on all plans, described as a way to show support for a cause.
  • Price note: shown in India: Free; Starter ₹220 a month billed annually or ₹360 monthly.
  • Best for: people who already plan posts in Later.
  • Strengths: a Featured Banner and a Multi-Item Banner (a carousel) on every Later Social plan, alongside linked posts and buttons.
  • Limits: you get it only as part of a Later Social plan, and we found no documented scheduling or countdown for the banners.
  • Price note: Starter $18.75 a month billed yearly, with a 14-day trial.

6. Carrd

  • Best for: people who want full layout control and don't mind building it.
  • Strengths: you design every section yourself, so a banner strip is just another section you place at the top.
  • Limits: there is no ready-made announcement feature to schedule; you edit and republish by hand. We couldn't confirm details of a countdown element.
  • Price note: Pro Lite $9 a year; Pro Standard $19 a year, with forms and widgets.

Writing a bar that gets taps

The tool matters less than the words. A bar has one line, so every word must earn its place.

  1. Lead with the benefit. "20% off all presets" beats "Big announcement!".
  2. Add the deadline in plain words. "Ends Sunday 11:59 pm" is clearer than a vague "limited time".
  3. Use one button with a verb. "Shop the sale" or "Book a slot", not "Click here".
  4. Make the countdown real. End it when you said it would, and don't restart it.
  5. Schedule the end too. Set the bar to disappear when the offer does, so you don't have to remember.
  6. Match your page colours. A soft or brand-coloured bar reads as part of the page; a clashing one looks like an ad.

Two example lines: "Diwali drop: new gift sets live now · Ends 3 Nov" with a "See the sets" button, or "Last 5 coaching slots for October" with "Book now". For 30 more, see our announcement bar ideas, and for timing a sale end to end, read announcement bar with a countdown. For layout ideas that keep a bar from crowding the page, see link-in-bio page design tips, and if you're still comparing tools on more than banners, use the checklist for choosing a link-in-bio tool. On QKAP, the bar lives in Appearance, and you can order the rest of the page in Page layout.

Frequently asked questions

Can Linktree show a countdown?

As of October 2026 we found no countdown feature in Linktree's pricing page or the help articles we checked. Linktree does let you schedule a link to go live and disappear, and animate or prioritise one link, on Starter and above. You can also write the end date in a text block on any plan.

Does an announcement bar slow my page?

A single line of text, an icon and a button add very little to a page. Large images, videos and heavy embeds usually matter far more for loading speed. If you use a scrolling marquee, keep the text short so it stays readable.

What should a sale banner say?

Say what the offer is, when it ends and what to tap, in one line. For example: "Flat ₹200 off all planners · Ends Sunday · Shop now". Avoid words like "lowest price ever" unless you can prove them.

Should visitors be able to close the bar?

Usually yes. A close button respects people who have already seen the offer. On QKAP, a closed bar stays hidden in that visitor's browser until you change the text, so a new announcement shows up again.

Is a pinned post on Instagram the same thing?

No. Instagram lets you pin up to three posts to the top of your profile grid, which suits your best evergreen content. A bar on your link-in-bio page is better for time-bound news, because it can switch itself off on schedule. Our comparison of an announcement bar vs a pinned link vs a story highlight shows when to use each.
