# How to Price Brand Deals on Instagram: A Simple Creator Formula

> How to price brand deals for reels, stories and bundles with a transparent formula based on views, effort and usage rights, plus how to quote in rupees.

Price brand deals from your typical views, not your follower count. Choose a baseline rate per 1,000 views from your own numbers, add a fee for your production time, then add separate charges for usage rights, exclusivity and rush delivery. The total is a starting quote you can adjust after a few deals, and because each line is written down, brands can see what they're paying for.

## Key takeaways

- Followers measure who could see a post. Views measure who actually did, so base your price on typical reel views from Instagram Insights.
- The formula: views-based fee, plus production fee, plus add-ons, never below your minimum fee.
- Charge usage rights, partnership ads, exclusivity, raw files and rush jobs as separate lines, not as free extras.
- Bundles (a reel plus stories plus a link-in-bio placement) give brands a clear package and you a bigger deal.
- Write the scope, payment terms and disclosure into every quote, and ask an accountant about GST before you invoice.

## Why follower count is a poor price signal

Follower count is a total built up over years. Some of those followers no longer see your posts, and reels often reach people who don't follow you at all. A brand paying for a reel is paying for the people who will watch it.

Instagram Insights gives you better inputs. According to Instagram's Help Centre (checked October 2026), **Views** on a reel counts the number of times it starts to play or replay, and **Viewers** counts the unique accounts that saw it on screen at least once. Instagram labels Viewers as estimated and still in development. You can pick preset or custom time frames within the past 90 days, and reel insights stay available for up to two years after posting.

Audience fit matters too. Insights shows top cities, countries, age ranges and gender for the accounts you reached, once you reach more than 100 accounts in a preset time frame. A brand selling in Pune cares more about a Pune-heavy audience than a bigger audience elsewhere. If you're new to these screens, start with our guide to [Instagram Insights for affiliate creators](https://qkap.app/blog/instagram-insights-for-affiliate-creators).

## The formula, step by step

**Quote = (typical views ÷ 1,000 × your rate per 1,000 views) + production fee + add-ons**, and never less than your minimum fee.

1. **Find your typical views.** Open Insights for your last 10 to 15 reels and note each reel's views. Use the median (the middle value), not the average, so one viral reel doesn't inflate your price.
2. **Choose your rate per 1,000 views.** There's no official rate. Start from your own history: divide a fee you were happy with by the views that reel got. With no history, start from your minimum fee divided by your typical views, then adjust.
3. **Add your production fee.** Count your real hours for scripting, shooting, editing, revisions and travel, multiply by an hourly rate you choose, and add costs such as props or a location.
4. **Add the add-ons.** Price usage rights, exclusivity and rush delivery as separate lines (see below).
5. **Check your minimum fee.** Set a floor that makes a deal worth a day of your time. If the formula comes out lower, quote the floor or offer a smaller deliverable.
6. **Review after every few deals.** If every brand says yes at once, you're probably too cheap. If nobody replies, look at your price and at whether the brands fit your audience.

## Worked example (illustrative numbers)

All numbers below are made up to show the maths. They are not market rates and not a recommendation.

Meera is a skincare creator. The median views on her last 12 reels is 20,000. She picks ₹150 per 1,000 views as her baseline and ₹400 an hour for production, and one reel takes her five hours.

| Line | Working | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Views-based fee | 20,000 ÷ 1,000 × ₹150 | ₹3,000 |
| Production fee | 5 hours × ₹400 | ₹2,000 |
| Subtotal | | ₹5,000 |
| Partnership ads for 30 days | 30% of subtotal | ₹1,500 |
| Skincare exclusivity for 30 days | 20% of subtotal | ₹1,000 |
| **Quote** | | **₹7,500** |

Her minimum fee is ₹5,000, so the quote clears it. If the brand drops the exclusivity, the price drops to ₹6,500, and that's a cleaner negotiation than a vague discount.

## Pricing add-ons

Each add-on gives the brand something extra or costs you something, so price it on its own line.

- **Usage rights.** The brand reposts your video on its own pages, website or packaging. Price it by channel and duration, for example a percentage of the subtotal per month.
- **Partnership ads (whitelisting).** The brand runs paid ads using your content and handle. As of October 2026, Instagram's Help Centre says brands can use Meta's Creator Marketing Hub to find creator content to boost into partnership ads. Paid reach can go beyond your organic views, so charge per month and set an end date.
- **Exclusivity.** You agree not to work with competitors for a period. You're giving up other deals, so charge for the category and the time.
- **Raw files.** Unedited footage lets the brand make its own edits. Charge a flat fee.
- **Rush delivery.** A deadline shorter than your normal turnaround means moving other work. Add a percentage.
- **Extra revisions.** Include one or two rounds in the base price and charge for more.

## Bundles and packages

A bundle is easier for a brand to approve than three separate quotes. A common structure is one reel, a set of three stories, and the product in your link in bio for a week or a month.

The link-in-bio placement is worth pricing because it keeps working after the reel. On QKAP you can put the product in a numbered post with a tap-to-copy coupon and a countdown, and [analytics](https://qkap.app/features/analytics) show product clicks and where visitors came from (the last 7 days on Free, longer ranges on Premium). That gives you real numbers to share in your campaign report. Offer the bundle at a modest discount on the sum of its parts so the brand sees the value.

| Deliverable | What drives its price | Common add-ons |
|---|---|---|
| Reel | Typical reel views, production time | Usage rights, partnership ads, raw files |
| Story set | Typical story views, number of frames | Link sticker, extra frames |
| Carousel post | Typical post reach, design time | Usage rights, extra slides |
| Link-in-bio placement | Page visits and product clicks, duration | Coupon code, countdown, longer placement |
| UGC video (not posted by you) | Production time, usage scope | Usage duration, raw files, extra edits |
| Bundle | Sum of parts, minus a small discount | Exclusivity, rush |

## Gifted, affiliate and paid offers: when each makes sense

- **Paid.** The default for any deal with deliverables, deadlines and approvals. Use the formula.
- **Gifted (barter).** Worth it if you'd buy the product anyway, the effort is low, or it fills a gap in your portfolio. ASCI's guidelines treat free products as a material connection, so you still disclose. Our [ASCI guidelines summary](https://qkap.app/blog/asci-influencer-guidelines-india) explains the labels.
- **Affiliate or commission.** Works once you know your audience buys from your links. A small fixed fee plus a commission shares the risk. Our guides to [what affiliate creators earn](https://qkap.app/blog/how-much-affiliate-creators-earn) and [direct brand partnerships](https://qkap.app/blog/direct-brand-affiliate-partnerships) cover this.

If you use QKAP's [inbox](https://qkap.app/features/inbox), partnership requests can include the brand name, website, offer type (paid, gifted, affiliate, or not decided yet) and a budget, so you can see what's on the table before you quote.

## Quoting, negotiating and getting paid

1. **Ask for the brief first.** Deliverables, dates, usage, exclusivity and approval steps all change the price.
2. **Quote in writing, line by line,** in rupees, stating what's included and how long the quote is valid.
3. **Negotiate on scope, not just price.** If the budget is lower, remove a deliverable or shorten the usage period.
4. **Agree the payment terms.** A common approach with new brands is part of the fee before you start and the rest within a set number of days of posting.
5. **Invoice properly.** As of October 2026, Zoho says Zoho Invoice is free for Indian businesses and creates GST-compliant invoices. Ask an accountant whether you need to register for GST.
6. **Disclose every paid post** with a clear label, as your agreement and ASCI require.

## Frequently asked questions

### How much should a 10k creator charge?

There's no honest single number, because follower count isn't the right input. Two creators with 10,000 followers can have very different reel views, niches and production effort. Use the formula with your own median views, production time and add-ons, and adjust after a few deals.

### Should I share rates publicly?

Some creators publish "starting at" prices to filter out small budgets, while others share rates only after reading the brief so the quote fits the scope. Our [influencer rate card guide](https://qkap.app/blog/influencer-rate-card-guide) covers both approaches.

### Do I need to charge GST?

It depends on your turnover, the services you provide and where your clients are, and the rules can change. Speak to a chartered accountant or tax professional before you invoice. If you're registered, show GST on your invoices as they advise.

### What if a brand only offers a free product?

Accept it if you'd genuinely use the product and the work is light, and still disclose it. For anything that needs a dedicated reel, scripting and approvals, reply with your paid rate and a smaller option, such as a story set.

### Should I lower my price if the brand says the budget is small?

Lower the scope rather than the rate. Offer fewer deliverables, a shorter usage period or no exclusivity. That keeps your rate consistent for the next brand.
