# Discount Codes for Your Creator Store: Limits, Expiry, Share Links

> Create store discount codes on QKAP: percent or fixed off, one product or all, usage caps, expiry dates, pausing, and share links that apply codes for buyers.

On QKAP, you create store discount codes in **Store › Discounts**: choose a percentage or a fixed amount off, apply it to one product or all of them, cap how many times it can be used, set a last day, and pause it whenever you like. Buyers can type the code in any case, or open a share link that applies it for them. Codes are included on every plan, and the discount comes off your own price, so you decide exactly what each offer is worth.

## Key takeaways

- Store discount codes take money off your own products: downloads, courses, coaching calls, memberships, bundles and physical products.
- Each code is a percentage (up to 100%) or a fixed amount, for one product or every product, with optional usage caps and an expiry date.
- Codes aren't case-sensitive, each order takes one code, and codes don't apply to pay-what-you-want prices or tips.
- Share links with the code built in mean followers don't have to remember or type anything.
- Honest discounts use real prices and real deadlines; a code that's always available stops feeling like an offer.

## Store discount codes vs affiliate coupon codes

These two get mixed up, so it's worth separating them.

**Affiliate coupon codes** are codes a brand gives you for its own store, such as an Amazon or Myntra deal. On QKAP you show them on a product in a post with a tap-to-copy button and an optional countdown. QKAP doesn't check them; the brand's store does. Our guide to [deals, coupons and countdowns](https://qkap.app/blog/qkap-deals-coupons-countdowns) covers that side.

**Store discount codes** are codes you create for your own products in your QKAP store. QKAP checks them at checkout, works out the new price and records which code each order used. This article is about these.

## How to create a discount code on QKAP

1. Open **Dashboard → Store › Discounts**.
2. Type the **code**: 3 to 32 characters using letters, numbers, hyphens or underscores, such as `LAUNCH20` or `DIWALI_KIT`.
3. Choose the **type**: a percentage off (for example 20) or a fixed amount off in your shop's currency (for example ₹100).
4. Under **Works on**, keep **All products** or pick one product.
5. Optionally set **Max uses**. Leave it empty for unlimited.
6. Optionally set **Expires on**. The code works until the end of that day.
7. Save. The code appears in your list with a copy button.

Codes can be used on paid downloads, courses, bundles, coaching calls, memberships and physical products. Free products such as lead magnets don't need one, and pay-what-you-want products and tips are left out because the buyer already chooses the amount. See the [discount codes and order bumps feature page](https://qkap.app/features/discounts-and-order-bumps) for a quick overview. Codes work the same on Free and Premium; [pricing](https://qkap.app/pricing) shows what else differs between the plans.

## Usage caps, expiry, pausing and usage counts

Your code list shows each code's value ("20% off" or "₹100 off"), the product it's limited to, how many times it's been used (for example "12/50 used") and its end date. A code that's past its date shows **Expired**, and one that's hit its cap shows **Used up**.

A few details that help in practice:

- **Pausing.** Turn a code off to stop it working without deleting it, then turn it back on later. Useful for a code you reuse every sale season.
- **When a use counts.** A use is counted when an order is placed with the code. If that order is never paid and gets cancelled, by you or automatically after seven days, the use is given back.
- **What the code takes off.** The discount applies to the product's price (times the quantity for physical products). It never reduces the delivery fee or the price of an order bump add-on. If a 100% code brings the total to zero (no delivery fee or paid add-on), the order is free and unlocks straight away, with no payment to confirm.
- **What buyers see.** At checkout, buyers tap "Have a discount code?", enter it and see the discount before paying. If a code has expired, been used up or doesn't apply to that product, they're told why and can still buy at the normal price.

## Share links that apply a code automatically

Every product has [share links and a QR code](https://qkap.app/features/share-links). In the product editor you'll find a share link for each active code that works on that product and hasn't expired or run out. The link adds the code to the product address, so when a follower taps it, the checkout opens with the discount already applied.

That removes two common problems with codes: people forgetting them and mistyping them. Use share links in story link stickers, DMs, emails and WhatsApp messages. Each order shows which code was used, so you can see which offer brought the sale. You can also download the product's QR code as an SVG for printed flyers or event tables.

## Pairing codes with order bumps

An order bump is a one-tap add-on offered at checkout, such as a template pack added to a course. Its files or lessons unlock with the main purchase. Codes and bumps work well together because they do different jobs: the code makes the main product easier to say yes to, and the bump raises the order value with something genuinely related.

Remember that the code doesn't discount the add-on. If you want the add-on cheaper too, set a special bump price in the product editor.

## Five discount code strategies for creators

### Launch week

A percentage code for every product, expiring seven days after launch. Announce the end date once, then stick to it.

### DM-only

A one-product code you share only in replies to people who asked about that product. A low cap keeps it personal.

### Email subscribers

A code for people on your email list, sent through a broadcast. QKAP can't restrict a code to subscribers, so anyone who has it can use it; add a cap if you're worried about it being shared. It rewards people who chose to hear from you; our [coupon codes and deal content guide](https://qkap.app/blog/coupon-codes-and-deal-content) has ideas for wording that doesn't feel pushy.

### Bundle nudge

A fixed-amount code limited to a bundle, so the bundle becomes the obvious choice over buying items one by one.

### Win-back

A one-product code for a membership or course, sent to past buyers who haven't returned, with a short expiry. Each membership period is a separate payment, so use a cap or an end date if the offer is meant for one period only.

| Strategy | Code type | Limit | Where to share |
|---|---|---|---|
| Launch week | Percent, all products | Expires in 7 days | Reel caption, stories, announcement bar |
| DM-only | Percent or amount, one product | Max uses, e.g. 20 | DM replies via share link |
| Email subscribers | Percent, all products | Expires in 3–5 days | Email broadcast |
| Bundle nudge | Amount, one bundle | Optional expiry | Product page, stories |
| Win-back | Percent, one product | Short expiry and cap | Email or WhatsApp to past buyers |

## Honest discounts: real prices, real deadlines

Discounts work because people trust them. A few rules keep it that way, and they match the spirit of advertising guidance from bodies such as ASCI in India and the FTC in the US:

- **Discount from a price people actually pay.** Don't raise a price the week before a sale so the code looks bigger.
- **Keep the deadline you announce.** If a code "ends Sunday", let it expire on Sunday. QKAP's expiry date does this for you.
- **Don't run the same code all year.** A permanent code is just your real price.
- **Say who it's for.** "For my email subscribers" is honest; "only 3 left" when there's no limit isn't.

## Frequently asked questions

### Are codes case-sensitive?

No. QKAP saves store discount codes in capitals, and buyers can type SAVE20, save20 or Save20. Spaces typed by mistake are ignored as well.

### Can a code work on one product only?

Yes. Pick a product under "Works on" when you create the code, or leave it on All products. A code limited to one product is refused politely on any other product, and the buyer can still pay the normal price.

### Can buyers combine two codes?

No. Each QKAP store order takes one discount code. If you want a bigger offer, create one code with the combined value rather than asking buyers to stack them.

### Do codes work on memberships and calls?

Yes. On QKAP, memberships and 1:1 coaching calls can use codes like downloads and courses do. Codes don't apply to pay-what-you-want products or tips, because the buyer already sets that amount.

### Does QKAP take a cut of discounted sales?

No. QKAP takes no commission on store sales, discounted or not. Buyers pay you directly by UPI or your own payment link, as explained in [how to sell digital products with UPI](https://qkap.app/blog/sell-digital-products-with-upi).

Create one launch code with a real end date, share it with a link that applies it automatically, and check its usage count after the first day.
